About used command units
A command unit is a place to run an incident from. At the small end that is a chief's SUV or pickup with a command cabinet and radios; at the large end it is a mobile command post with interior desks, a conference table, a generator, a mast and scene lighting. Fire departments, police and emergency management agencies all buy them used.
Work out which end of that range you need before you shop, because the two are different vehicles with different running costs. Compare the size and layout of the work area, the communications and computer equipment, the power system, and any mast or cameras. Establish exactly which radios and installed equipment transfer with the vehicle and which the seller is keeping — on a command unit that list is often the difference between a usable rig and a shell.
Check mileage, engine and generator hours, and confirm the vehicle fits where you intend to park and deploy it. Brindlee Mountain trades used apparatus with departments, dealers and manufacturers across the United States and Canada, and can source a configuration that is not currently listed. Filter by price, year or state, and send an inquiry with your questions.
