Stock trucks are new apparatus a dealer built without a customer waiting for them. Demo Units are trucks a dealer or manufacturer has run at shows and demonstrations. Both exist to be delivered sooner than a custom build, often for less, which makes them the practical answer to an urgent need or a grant deadline.

Compare the specification against what your department actually requires — pump, tank, body and compartment layout, chassis and seating — because a truck built on spec was built for somebody's general idea of a department, not for yours. On a Demo Unit, ask about mileage, hours and any wear picked up on the show circuit, and confirm which warranties transfer to you; that is often the most valuable thing in the deal.
